It’s time for another Meet A Maker! I want to introduce you to Carrie, owner of Wildly Urban. She is a self-proclaimed wood hoarder who makes gorgeous air plant holders. Carrie wanted a way to use up some beautiful scrap pieces of wood laying around, so Wildly Urban was born.
Carrie started Wildly Urban as a part time business in 2017, but her love of the outdoors and creating things started long before then. She only became obsessed with the beauty of wood after her husband started a fabrication business. He would have large slabs of wood to use in his projects, but there was always small pieces left over…just waiting for Carrie to make something with them.
With the help of her husband and their joint shop in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Carrie learned how to use many power tools. Her favorite – the bandsaw is the tool of choice to create the pretty Wildly Urban shapes. Many of the pieces are left as their natural wood color – they aren’t stained.
